Philanthropist/Masseuse/Orator I'm Valerie Kelso, a native of England, and I grew up in a large family with four brothers and eight sisters. The proud mother of Rachael and two granddaughters, Taisha and Teoni, I bring years of experience as a licensed Medical Massage Practitioner and instructor. As the founder and CEO of PLT Massage and Wellness, Purple Light Touch Foundation, and the Don’t Believe the Hype Show Life, I am motivated by selflessness and unconditional love for others.
Recognized for my "healing hands," my clientele has substantially grown over the years. In December 2015, I established Purple Light Touch Foundation, a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization dedicated to exclusively serving women and young girls who have undergone life-altering events like domestic violence, cancer, bullying, sex trafficking, depression, suicidal thoughts, and other traumas. Purple Light Touch provides free therapeutic massages, along with various services and resources such as self-help, computer skills, sewing classes, T-shirt making, mentoring, empowerment, and prayer sessions. The foundation's goal is to meet the healing needs of all the women and young girls who seek their assistance.
PLT Massage and Wellness emerged from a tumultuous period marked by homelessness, depression, and the fallout of my ex-husband's infidelity. He not only kicked me out of the apartment but also expected me to return to England after shutting down our business. This unfortunate situation resulted in the loss of my $80,000 investment. I'll delve into the details of this journey in my blogs.
With just $325 in hand, God granted me the opportunity to invest in myself, laying the foundation for the birth of PLT. The turning point came when a client handed me $360, and instead of using it for a hotel room, I chose to invest that money in my future. Since August 1st, 2017, PLT has been thriving, a testament to divine intervention. God's guidance has extended to the foundation, emphasizing the crucial role of healing in our lives. The "Don't Believe the Hype Show" serves as my platform to reclaim my voice and advocate for the forgotten. Enduring a life of abuse often results in losing one's voice, and my mission is to empower everyone to recognize their inherent strength. I want to emphasize that no matter the hardships life presents, each individual possesses the resilience to overcome them. The show is a testament to the power within us all, and my goal is to inspire others to believe in their ability to navigate life's difficulties.
In this blog, I will be teaching, sharing my journey, and offering self-care. My focus is on ministering to your needs and guiding you through recognizing and affirming your emotional experiences. I aim to create a secure space for you to authentically feel your emotions. By practicing empathetic communication, we can build more robust and emotionally secure relationships. Understanding oneself allows for a broader perspective on life's offerings. Letting go of unnecessary emotional baggage becomes possible, akin to putting it in the trash rather than the recycle bin.
